Recovering Revival

Revival has been a thorny subject because it has been a cover up for sin and made by careful planning. However, the eschatology of the Bible is that every tongue, tribe and nation sees the power of God that confirms the gospel. There has been much discussion about Israel, Revelation, and temples. However, the one reality in the Bible is the end of time is directly connected to the gospel of the Kingdom going to all nations then the end will come.  (Matthew 24:14)

If we understand that revival is a season of divine visitation that is marked by dramatic healing, intense deliverance, and salvation en masse in a region where the people’s encounters closes bars and church are full; we have to rethink what we see as revival.
When I consider revival, the Bible is full of moves of God, especially in the Book of Acts. I also want to look at history with a special emphasis on Topeka Outpouring, Azusa Street, and the Brownsville Revival. When we considers these as models, it helps us define what we consider and don’t consider revival.

The history of the move of God in America and around the world is one of calling men to repentance with signs following.

Revival is Repentance

At the core of any move of God is people coming to Jesus with pure hearts in brokenness over sin. It is not just the town’s drunk but it is also the man in the pew who never had an encounter with the Lord on a personal level.
